David Freysinger

Chief Executive Officer

Dave Freysinger joined GenOn as Chief Executive Officer in December 2018, after having assisted the company as a senior advisor starting in July 2018. Prior to joining GenOn, Dave served as an independent consultant to power industry clients who were engaged in restructurings and transactions. He was Executive Vice President, Coal Operations for EquiPower Resources from 2013 through its sale to Dynegy in 2015. Before 2013, Dave served in a variety of roles with Reliant Energy and GenOn Energy, including stints heading generation operations and Reliant’s Europe operations. Earlier in his career, he served in senior leadership positions for public and private companies in operations, commercial and finance roles. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

 
 
 

Darren Olagues

Chief Financial Officer

Darren Olagues joined GenOn in December 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to then, he is serving as managing partner of JLC Management Consulting where he provides advisory services to power and utility companies, including GenOn Energy. From 2007-2016, Darren served in various leadership roles with Cleco affiliated companies. He was President and CEO of Cleco Corporate Holdings and President of Cleco Power where he led Cleco’s $4.7 billion privatization efforts. He also has served as Chief Financial Officer for Cleco Corporation and Senior Vice President of Cleco Midstream Resources. He started his career at Exelon Corporation in various key finance roles. Darren earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University.  

 
 
 

Daniel McDevitt

General Counsel

Dan McDevitt joined GenOn in September 2017 as General Counsel and as part of the management team that guided GenOn through bankruptcy reorganization.Prior to that, Dan was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Edison Mission Energy, a subsidiary of Edison International.Dan helped EME through a Chapter 11 restructuring and subsequent sale to NRG Energy.Following the EME bankruptcy, Dan led the EME post-bankruptcy trust.Dan holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Oberlin College and a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Dan started his legal career in Chicago.

 
 
 

Jonathan Sacks, CFA

Senior Vice President, Strategy

Jonathan Sacks, CFA, joined GenOn as Senior Vice President, Strategy in December 2018. Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Origination and Asset Optimization at Kindle Energy where he was responsible for structured commodity transactions and asset optimization. Additionally, from 2015-2017, he was Interim Chief Financial Officer of Kindle Energy. Prior to joining Kindle Energy, Jonathan was Vice President, Origination and Commercial Analysis at EquiPower Resources Corp through its sale to Dynegy in 2015. Earlier in his career, Jonathan held a variety of roles at Mirant Corp. and Southern Company in business development, M&A, asset management, and corporate finance. He holds an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University as well as dual degrees from The University of Texas at Austin—a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 
 
 

Eric Watts

Chief Commercial Officer

Eric Watts joined GenOn in December 2018 as Chief Commercial Officer and is responsible for the oversight of all commercial aspects surrounding GenOn's generation fleet. He has more than 25 years of diversified energy marketing experience, most recently serving as Talen Energy’s Senior Vice President responsible for all commercial optimization activities. Prior to Talen, Eric was Executive Vice President responsible for all power trading, origination, asset management and environmental products for Twin Eagle Resource Management. Before that, he was Dynegy’s Senior Vice President-Commercial Operations where he led the company’s commercial functions. Prior to joining Dynegy, he was a Gas Supply Representative at Excel Resources and at Panhandle Eastern Corp. Eric earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Real Estate at the University of Texas at Austin.

 
 
 

Mark Gouveia

Senior Vice President, Operations

Mark Gouveia has served as Senior Vice President Operations of GenOn since September 2017. Mark began his career with PG&E in 1980, starting as an entry-level plant operator at the Geysers Geothermal Power Plant at the Geysers Geothermal Power Plant and ending as Plant Manager for Pittsburg and Contra Costa Power Plants. From 1999-2017, he held various key plant operations roles with NRG and predecessor companies, including Vice President of East Operations, Vice President of Power Generation for Mirant and Chief Operating Officer, Mirant California. Mark brings extensive experience in managing coal, gas and oil plants of different technologies in a variety of commercial roles.
